Yoga: Awareness through Movement

This 8 week series takes classic yoga postures that are also relevant to daily living like standing, walking, sitting in chairs, bending and lifting ... and breaks them down step by step, bone by bone, and muscle by muscle. Instead of thinking about how far you stretch, how long you hold each posture, or how you look, explore what is really going on in your body to greatly expand your practice and ease of movement during every day life.

Rather than learning yoga postures through repetition and trial and error, students in this class learn a new way of thinking not only about yoga but about movement in general. You will learn to experience yoga postures in a very different way and to develop the movements not just on a mat but in the car, lying in bed, or standing in the grocery store line.

Much of the time, many of us in our lives and in our yoga practice are using more effort than is needed and we do not realize it. By slowing down, so that we can sense and feel more clearly how we are moving, we begin to experience the yoga postures as dynamic, rejuvenating, and endlessly interesting.

This class is suitable for all levels.
