What
is the Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies Program?
Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies is an eight-week program offered to those
individuals with metabolic syndrome, high blood pressure, diabetes, or
those at risk for heart disease or stroke.
The
Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies Program includes:
- sessions that meet once per week for 1½
hours each time
- gentle relaxing yoga, with special focus
on breathing and stress reduction techniques
- mindful awareness of hunger levels
- a delicious, healthy snack and instructions
on the pros and cons of popular diets such as:
- South Beach
- The Zone
- DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension)
- Mediterranean
- Dean Ornish
This class is led by Dr.
Sharon Plank, integrative medicine physician at the Center for Integrative
Medicine. New Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies classes are forming now.
